Also known as Béal Ború, Brian Boru's Fort overlooks the River Shannon and its important entrance into Lough Derg. It is said to be where Brian Boru, the High King of Ireland, was born in 941AD. Archeological excavations have discovered numerous artefacts dating back to the stone age and the 11th and 12th century.
