The Church of San Domenico was built in 1470 as a mausoleum of the Aragona-Tagliavia family. Of notable value are the chapel of the main altar and the chapel of the choir, decorated by Antonio Ferraro da Giuliana and his son Orazio. Among the most important works inside the church are: the marble tomb of Prince Carlo d'Aragona Tagliavia, the Sarcophagus of Ferdinando d'Aragona Tagliavia (1549) and the marble statue of the Madonna di Loreto (1489).

The church of San Domenico and the adjacent preachers' convent constitute a single monumental aggregate, a place of worship located in Piazza Regina Margherita in Castelvetrano. It is also sometimes referred to as the Sistine Chapel of Sicily.
