The 'Musée des Beaux-Arts' is the former episcopal palace and consists of buildings from different eras, from the 15th to the 19th century.Of the old palace which hosted King Henry IV during his coronation on February 27, 1594, only the remains of the 15th century outbuildings (archs now enveloped in greenery) remain. Most of the building was built in the 17th and 18th centuries by three bishops.chartres.fr/musee-beaux-arts

Small but interesting museum that you should definitely visit when you are in town.

Behind the museum there is a beautiful garden that was created by Bishop Léonor d'Estampes at the beginning of the 17th century. From here you have a good view over the lower town of Chartres.Information about current exhibitions, opening times and prices can be found here: chartres-tourisme.com/de/erkunden/alle-visites/musee-des-beaux-arts-palais-episcopal-1360301
