Castle freedom (also known as Burgfreiheit) is the name given to a residential area enclosed by the walls of a castle complex. The citizens of this area enjoyed certain self-government rights and possibly also the right to hold markets; later, town rights often followed.
Such freedoms also exist in Raesfeld, for example, in Borken-Gemen.
Cozy spot with lovely places to stop for a bite to eat - you won't die of thirst here.
