The monument was created in 1952 by Serbian architect Bogdan Bogdanović. Bogdanović created several memorials commemorating the crimes of World War II, including the Jasenovac Stone Flower. The memorial in the Jewish cemetery was the first memorial in Yugoslavia to address the Holocaust.
