Tips

  • The Swedish National Park Tiveden is located in the inter-lake area between the lakes Vänern and Vättern. Tiveden is a rocky, splinted area partly overgrown by primeval forest. In addition to the Trollkyrka rock, there are also several wilderness lakes in the national park.

  • This impressive nature park (2,030 ha) is situated between Sweden's two largest lakes, Vänern and Vättern, in the provinces of Västra Götaland and Örebro. It consists largely of primeval forest. The landscape is dominated by several idyllically situated lakes, coniferous forests and rocky hills with enormous boulders, some up to 10 metres high.
    Highly recommended!

  • The national park is accessible by car, horse and bike. There are parking spots at the main entrance, Metesjön, Vitsand, and Ösjönäs. All parking spots offer toilets, garbage bins, benches and information material about the national park.

There are 9 different well-marked hiking loops in the national park ranging from roughly 1km to 10km length. Multiple fire places with provided fire wood, view points and benches invite guests to have lunch breaks or fika.

It is possible to camp at three locations in the national park (Kärringaudden, Metesjön and Mellannäsudden), however tents are only allowed between 18:00 until 10:00 the following morning. All camping spots are provided with fire wood and equipped with an axe and saw for splitting and sawing the wood as needed. In the whole national park, wooden materials may NOT be collected from the natural environment. There is one water pump at the main entrance, however the water quality is not monitored and hence drinking is on own risk.
