In 1904, the Hinterdamerau Forest District (now the Jęczniki Forest District) was taken over and managed for 27 years by Reinhold Desens.

It was this forester who came up with the idea of setting up the "Hindenburg Stone". His name was even placed on one side of the stone. The unveiling of the stone took place in beautiful autumn weather on Sunday, October 2, 1929, on the eighty-second birthday of Paul von Hindenburg. Many foresters and residents of nearby villages took part in the ceremony.

On one side, the stone had a smooth surface, on which there was an inscription on a white background: "Die Treue ist das Mark der Ehre. “Zum Andenken an den 82. Geburtstag des Reichspräsidenten von Hindenburg 2.10.1929” (Loyalty is a sign of honor. In memory of the 82nd anniversary of the birth of the Reich President von Hindenburg 2.10.1929”). On the other side, the following inscription was placed: “Allzeit treu bereit für des Reiches Herrlichkeit.” (Always faithful, ready for the glory of the Reich). Inscriptions related to the people who made the monument can still be seen on the stone. The granite boulder, pulled out of Lake Sasek Wielki in winter, was worked by stonemason Heinrich Herholz from Szczytno. The inscriptions on it were chosen by Desens and made by Szczytno master painter - Leo Dzwonkowski. The boulder was placed near the forester's lodge at the junction of three roads. Red oaks were planted around it. Currently, the oaks and the boulder are an interesting element of the nature educational trail.
