The former Polish-German border was divided into 19 sections. At the beginning of each section, the main border stones, known as Versailles stones, were dug in. They bore the inscription: Versailles 28.6.1919, i.e. the place and date of signing the peace treaty after World War I. These were the largest border stones - about 70 centimeters protruded above the ground. The sides were 40 x 40 centimeters wide.
In addition to the Versailles stones, there were smaller stones with the letters P and D carved in them, about 50 centimeters high and with sides 25 x 25 centimeters wide.
