Tips
Church of S. Pietro called Chiesa Rossa, on the rocky outcrop overlooking the river Breggia, in the complex of the ancient castle. The name of "red church" is due to the red color of the facade wanted by the bishop Archinti in 1599; a local tradition connects the name to the massacre of the fam. Rusca by the Busioni of Mendrisio which took place in the church on Christmas night of 1390.

Above the door is a copy of the bas-relief representing the bishop of Como Bonifacio da Modena, who wanted the church, with two family crests at the sides and, below, Bonifacio himself giving a lecture. The original is kept inside.

A beautiful church, with old wall paintings. We were lucky and the church was opened to us again. The view is also worthwhile.
