Beautiful old bridge over the Vesdre river, accessible only to cyclists and pedestrians.

The Weser (also Weserbach; French Vesdre) is an almost 70 km long right tributary of the Ourthe in Belgium. In the first half it runs in the German-speaking part of Belgium, then in the French-speaking area. Two kilometers of the upper reaches lie in Germany.

The Weser rises in Belgium in the High Fens, just one kilometer west of the German-Belgian border near Konzen. Initially, the still small body of water flows north to Roetgen, where it runs two kilometers through Germany in the village. In front of it, a 2500 m long bypass canal branches off, which carries the majority of the water past Roetgen and back to the Weser through the Steinbach. This diversion through Belgian forest area was created between 1960 and 1962 to prevent the inflow of contaminated canal and surface water from the area around Roetgen in order to ensure the highest possible bacteriological purity of the inflow into the Weser dam near Eupen. The Weser Dam, built between 1938 and 1950, is the most important drinking water dam in Belgium.
