The dominant feature of the Bystrica Square is the parish church of St. Lawrence on its lower side. The dedication indicates that it was created already at the time of the colonization of the region. Already in the 30s or 40s of the 13th century, there was a church here. It was apparently a Romanesque building that was rebuilt in the Gothic style in the 14th century. At the end of the 15th century, the church was fortified with a wall with bastions and a separate tower. The large tower of the church was damaged several times by lightning or fire, and in 1703 it was modified with a Baroque finish. The last repair and completion of the towers was carried out in 1873 by František Sáblík, a native of Bystrica, later a professor of German technology in Prague, and the construction was directed by master Korábek from Prosetín. The interior carvings, altars and pulpit are in Baroque and Rococo style.
