'The Blue Stone' is a stone sculpture in Bergen by Asbjørn Andresen, placed so to speak in the middle of today's Kong Olav Vs Plass (formerly the middle part of Ole Bulls Plass), the area between Torgallmenningen and Torggaten.

The artwork consists of a nine meter long rectangular block of concrete clad in blue stone slabs, resting on a transverse block that provides the characteristic north-east tilt. The blue stone is placed on a larger foundation along with a smaller, gray square stone sculpture, which serves as a cover for an opening at the end of the foundation.

During the work on the artwork, there was debate in the local media as to whether or not this stone could be considered a work of art. Some thought the blue stone would spoil the place. However, it wasn't long before the stone became an important meeting place for Bergeners of all ages, although it may be the youthful public that uses the stone most actively.

What did the artist want to tell us with the slanted stone?

It is a nine-meter-long, rectangular concrete block clad with blue stone slabs made of Brazilian sodalite.
