The Arcediano Trail crosses part of the Picos de Europa National Park. It begins at the Pontón Pass, connecting the Sajambre Valley with Amieva. Originally, this route was a Roman road used to establish communication between Asturias and the Meseta Central plateau. However, it was in the 17th century that it reached its peak thanks to the efforts of Don Pedro Díaz de Oseja, Archdeacon of Villaviciosa, who dedicated considerable resources to improving this historic route. It is precisely to him that we owe the trail's name.
