It's about a horse that galloped here from the Wrocław Market Square. A bit of my own investigation and digging through history and other annals - for those interested.

The place took its name from the statue of Frederick II the Great (King of Prussia) on horseback. Buried in 1944 in a flood embankment (deep from the side of Osobowicka Street) by an SS unit. There he waited out the war safely. In 1947, it was accidentally found because someone stumbled over a horse's ear, as the old inhabitants of Osobowice said. The further fate is not so obvious, but as part of my search ... it seems that three inhabitants of Wrocław, employees of the recyclables depot - illegally sold the statue for the sum of PLN 260,000 to the bell foundry of Eugeniusz Woyczyński, where it was melted down. They were prosecuted for this act. The pedestal of the monument on the Market Square was dismantled only in 1948. Currently, flag poles are erected in the place of the former monument.

In the field there is a plaque, probably created as part of the WBO, with a bench on a raised embankment. It is worth stopping here especially at sunset - a fabulous view of the Odra river.

A pleasant path between the forest and the river.
