With the closure of the Schwarzkoptunnel, a 160-year-old railway era ended here, which the graffiti and the rest outside are intended to commemorate. 😊

A rest and refreshment station has been created at the western portal of the former Schwarzkopf Tunnel on a historic site. Water was previously collected from both sides using wells and, during the steam locomotive era, used to fill the water taps there. All of the water was of drinking water quality and was used, among other things, to supply the train stations in Heigenbrücken, Laufach, Hösbach, Goldbach, and Aschaffenburg. This water is still available today.

At the refreshment station, visitors can refresh themselves with the spring water from the Schwarzkopf spring using a pump (hydraulic "ram's head"), cool their feet, hands, and legs in water jets, and relax on a small seating area.

The refreshment station was officially opened on October 3, 2020.

In 2018, Laufach street artist Max Hasenstab created a graffiti at the tunnel portal depicting a steam locomotive and a man with a speech bubble. The phrase "Hie un zurück Lafisch" (Here and back Lafisch) recalls an anecdote at the ticket counter of Aschaffenburg train station.

The decommissioning of the Spessartrampe and the Schwarzkopf Tunnel on June 15, 2017, marked the end of the 163-year history of the old Heigenbrücken station.

A shorter route with only a slightly reduced gradient (21 instead of 21.7 per mille) has been gradually operational since June 19, 2017.

From June 15 to 19, 2017, the new Spessartrampe was connected to the existing network during a total closure, and the new Heigenbrücken stop was put into operation.
