Monte Pubel (1122 m) is a promontory of the Asiago Plateau that extends south of the town of Foza, between the deep Val Frenzela and Val Vecchia: a panoramic balcony with a beautiful glimpse of the Canale del Brenta, or the terminal part of Valsugana.

In this beautiful clearing, a small church dedicated to St. Francis stood since 1648, with a small hermitage attached, but it was destroyed during the First World War: after the conflict, the church was rebuilt 500 meters further inside, on the hill overlooking Foza.

It was the scene of clashes during the First World War: in 1917, the Austro-Hungarians occupied Forza, looking for a way down to the plain, but were contained by the Italians. On the southern side there are in fact traces of structures of the royal army, such as the military road with hairpin bends and the Cengia tunnel. A 'monument' made of war relics has been placed a few meters below the summit, to remember the conflict.

The cross is also the arrival point of the challenging 'Pierino Dalla Zuanna' trail, which climbs the sharp side of the mountain from Valstagna: descending along the rocky crest, 10 minutes away is the secluded General's Bench, with a spectacular view overlooking the valley.
