Jazovka is known as the place of mass murder of Croats during and after the end of World War II by partisans.

The victims were mainly the wounded, medical staff and nuns who were forcibly taken from Zagreb hospitals by members of the Yugoslav Army in 1945.

The pit consists of a well-like entrance part about 34 m deep, at the bottom of which there is an elongated sloping part about 15 m long.

In 2020, the remains of 814 victims who were killed there by partisans after the capture of Krašić in January 1943, and then by soldiers of the Yugoslav Army in May and June 1945, were exhumed from the pit.

For the three nuns, Sr. Lipharda Horvat, Sr. Konstantina Mesar and Geralda Jakob, nurses at the Vrapče Psychiatric Hospital, who were thrown into the pit, the process of beatification has been initiated within the Catholic Church.
