Frau Holle Pond

Legend of the Frau Holle pond:

The lake forms the entrance to Mrs. Holle's underground kingdom. At the bottom lies her castle made of pure silver, surrounded by magnificent gardens full of flowers, fruits and vegetables.

Every midday the beautiful young woman appears at her lake to take a bath in the middle of the pond. That's why this place is also called 'Frau Holle's bathing room'.

As the bright earth mother and goddess of fertility, Ms. Holle gave people rich harvests. She brought the rain that brought growth to the fields and, when she shook out her beds, the snow that covered everything. If they were angered, they would bring misfortune and hardship to the country.
