The new museum is housed in a former church which was unscathed by the earthquake that razed Gibellina, in the province of Trapani, to the ground in 1968. In 1981 Alberto Burri covered the destroyed historic center of the town with a flow of white cement, transforming it into the largest Land Art work in the world.
