The main church building was completely destroyed during World War II air strikes and subsequently demolished by Soviet authorities, the 50-metre bell tower survived as a military strategic point. Following a massive renovation completed in 2010, the tower was reborn as a modern, multifunctional tourism and cultural hub featuring a glass rooftop.
