This watchtower, or actually sky platform, is specially designed to experience the darkness at night. The 3-metre-high Lookout Tower Vlinderbalg, clad in wood, consists of a modern steel staircase leading to a platform. What makes the tower so special is that the side walls can be pushed forward. This means you won't get a stiff neck when you look at the starry sky at night. Does this mean that there is nothing to see during the day? No, on the contrary. During the day you have a beautiful view of the Vlinderbalg and the Lauwersmeer and it is a prime location for bird watching.
