There are 375 species of solitary bees in Belgium.
About 60 species sometimes take up residence in this bee hotel. Most species make a nest in the ground, a hollow stem or hotles in or between the stones.
During the first warm spring days in March, masons make the nest entrance
to different rooms.
In May, wallpapering bees line the corridors with pieces of leaves.
During the summer heat, the little black stump bees inhabit the nest.
The bees live on nectar and pollen from willows, clover and ivy.
