The market place with the beautiful ensemble of houses, with the town hall/church tower and the beautiful fountain make a great photo motif. The markets and festivals of the city of Schwabach take place here and the greengrocer is also here on weekdays. There is a second, smaller fountain on the market square, the horse fountain. This is decorated every year for the Easter fountain.

    A little more history?!

The Königsplatz (market square) has been the center of Schwabach since the town became a market (approx. 1303) and has remained so to this day. Only the wealthiest and most influential citizens of the city, with their sometimes magnificent estates, lived here. In the east, the rectangular square is bounded by the town hall and the tower of the town church that protrudes behind it.
This ensemble is a formative motif for the city and is depicted most frequently.
Until 1885, Königsplatz was simply called Marktplatz. Only then was it renamed in honor of the Bavarian royal family.

The square was used as a market place as early as 1303 and has been the heart of the city ever since. It was not until 1885 that the square was renamed Königsplatz in honor of the Bavarian royal family.
The square is bordered to the east by the town hall and the town church behind it. These two buildings are the landmark of Schwabach.
