    The first church was built before 1522. 16th century In the 2nd half, the church was taken over by the Reformed Evangelicals. By 1614 it was returned to the Catholics. LDK treasurer Stanislovas Beinartas in Paparčiai in 1649. established a Dominican monastery and gave it the palivarks of the Kazokiškis, Ferns, Tunilas (Tunilovići). The Dominicans established a novitiate in 1797. enlarged the church (presented the chapel of St. Dominic), founded a primary school. The monks had a library of 1072 volumes. 1782 there were 16 priests, 30 clerics, 10 brothers in the monastery. 1812 the church and the monastery were looted.
    1832 the following villages belonged to the monastery: Bekštonys, Diržonys, Klykūnai, Laukagalis, Naravas, Paaliosė, Pakalniškiai, Paparčiai, Vereikonyi. 1864 By the order of Mr. Muravyov, the Fern Monastery was closed and Russian soldiers were stationed there. The head of the monastery, Reverend Silvestras Babinovskis and Reverend Augustinas Kodelskis, were handed over to a military court. 6,000 books were found in the monastery library. After 2 weeks, the church was also closed. About 1890 the monastery and the church were demolished, the brick Fern Chapel and the monastery gate remained to this day.
