Cycling

The city was founded at the beginning of the 13th century. The exact circumstances are unclear, as all documents were destroyed in major fires in 1406 and 1484. On St. George's Day (April 23) in 1432, the citizens of Bernau managed to repel an attack by the Hussites, who destroyed and plundered numerous cities on their campaign through Lusatia (March 18 - May 5, 1432). Since 1832, this event has been commemorated annually with the three-day Bernau Hussite Festival.
