Wheeler Lakes are most commonly approached by starting at the Gore Range Trailhead just off of Interstate 70. There is a small side trail off of the Gore Range Trail called Wheeler Lakes Trail, which is the trail that actually brings you to the alpine meadows with the lakes. You'll likely experience solitude if you make it all the way to the meadow views at the end of Wheeler Lakes Trail.
