A stone's throw from the beach, Fort de Chef de Baie is a set of fortifications that includes a battery dating from the 18th century. The interior of the building hides galleries and spaces that were used to store gunpowder and other ammunition.
This fortification was reused by the Germans during the Second World War, forming part of the Atlantic Wall. They added a blockhouse and several buildings to the site. A commemorative plaque honors those shot at this location.
