Garver Mountain is 5,874 feet tall and was historically used as a fire lookout post. The original building, a simple log cabin, built in 1929, is still on the premises, but there is also a more modern tower that was used for fire detection beginning in the 1963. You can rent the tower from the U.S. Forest Service for $45 per night. There is a pit toilet available as well as beds, a table, and a wood stove. There is no water on site. Good views abound and the nearby Garver Creek is a popular backcountry fishing location.
