In fact this place is the 2nd "viewpoint" (wooden barriers) which dominates the monastery and its "valley". GPS 45.3675 5.8008333 (it is noted on the IGN 25 maps). We can also see, just opposite, the habère de Billon which is the largest sheepfold in Chartreuse, which can accommodate up to 100 cows and all the hay they need...
