Hiking
The current inhabited cluster of Montioni was born in 1809 at the behest of Elisa Baciocchi, sister of Napoleon Bonaparte, by whom she was appointed Princess of the Principality of Piombino.
The village was built near the ancient alum quarries, an important mineral highly sought after in antiquity for uses in the tanning industry.
