In the winter of 1943-1944, the group came up with the plan to build a hiding place at an inconspicuous sand hill in the pine forest of Berkenheuvel. The resistance group dug out the hill, built a hole from the pine trunks and restored the sand hill to its old shape. After a few months of hard work, the hiding place was ready and the resistance fighters disappeared underground. One of the members, Fokke Hessels, was an avid reader of Indian stories. That is why the hiding place was named 'de Wigwam'. The hiding place in Diever (municipality of Westerveld) is an underground forest hut made of concrete, which is supported by poles. A stone memorial stone has been placed at the entrance to the hut.
