The Schwedenschanze is the remains of the defensive ramparts from around 1632, which were built by the Catholics during the Thirty Years' War to ward off the Protestant soldiers of King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden. And because the visitors I do the tour with ask me again and again: No, nice thought, but that really has nothing to do with ski jumping 😉
