Tabor Tower and Military Museum Lokev

The Tabor Lokev Tower today transformed into a beautiful War Museum

The Tabor Lokev Military Museum is located in the defense tower – Tabor, which was built in 1487 and is a cultural monument of local importance owned by the Sežana Municipality. The museum was opened on August 14, 1994. The owner of the museum collection and the manager of the museum is Srečko Rože. Already in his childhood he was attracted by the stories of his grandfather, who was a surviving member of the Austro-Hungarian army in World War I, and his father's stories from the time of World War II. With his grandfather Viktor he found his first two artifacts on the mill square in Kreplje near Dutovlje: a canteen and a bayonet. This is what drew him to collecting. The first collection of military items, which numbered 511 items, was confiscated by the militia in 1983. After the military service in 1987, a new collection of military items slowly appeared.
