Castrillo de los Polvazares, a town located just 7 kilometers from Astorga, is one of the obligatory stops on the route of the French Camino de Santiago.

The origin of the town already appears in its name, since it was linked to two nearby forts, the Castro de San Martino and the Castro de la Mesa, the latter inhabited since the Bronze Age.
