The history of Giersbergen, the smallest residential area of Heusden, is an unknown story. The hamlet of now fifty inhabitants and picturesque farms has been located on the northern border of the Loonse and Drunense Duinen for centuries. It does not have a church or school, but it does have forests, dunes, catering and recreation. The hamlet with almost 100 horses was founded in 1244 as abbey farm of Ter Kameren near Brussels.
