The archaeological area of Alba Fucens is free and no ticket is required. It's worth a visit.
At the foot of Monte Velino, in the municipality of Massa d'Albe, the ancient city of Alba Fucens is an archaeological jewel still waiting to be explored. It was founded by the Romans in 303 BC. as a Latin colony, in the territory of the Equi.
In the imperial age it was a rich and prosperous place as evidenced by the archaeological remains, including the imposing amphitheater built by the prefect Macrone.
