    Hiking

The Schottenviertel includes numerous large buildings such as parliament, town hall and university, but also large parks. The center that gives it its name is the Schottenkloster, founded by Heinrich Jasomirgott in 1155, with which the Babenberg Duke also undertook a significant expansion of the city in the west.

    Hiking

There are a number of highlights in the "Schottenviertel". These include, of course, the "Schottenstift" founded in 1155 with the Schottenkirche, which is well worth seeing. There are also a number of "through houses" here. Today, this is often called a "passage".

    Hiking

The Schottenviertel (Scottish Quarter) is one of the four historic quarters of Vienna's Inner City (1st district) and extends north of St. Stephen's Cathedral around the Schottenstift (Scottish Abbey). Named after the Schottenstift, founded in 1155 by Henry II Jasomirgott with Irish ("Scottish") Benedictine monks, it was originally located outside the city walls and served as an important northern thoroughfare.
