The shepherd's oak is an English oak and has been registered as a natural monument with the lower nature conservation authority of the Gießen district since 1953. It is about 400 years old, about 20 m high and about 555 cm in circumference.

The four noble courts of Bensburg were also located here. This group farm settlement had good transport links thanks to the old routes and was in a sheltered location. The four farms are also called the "free Dünsberger farms" in a document from 1372, so they were tax-free. It can be assumed that the cradle of Marquart I, the first count of Königsberg, stood in this courtyard by the shepherd's oak. More in the video:
