On February 16, 2018, in Linkmeni, near the Linkmeni St. A memorial stone to the border guards who guarded the Lithuanian-Polish demarcation line in 1923-1939 was ceremonially unveiled in the Trinity Church. The monument was built in the place where the administrative line with the Polish-occupied Vilnius region once ran. This line was guarded by the Lithuanian border police. The officers here had to perform a difficult and dangerous service, as it was a temporary border between the recently warring states. Lithuania never recognized these lines as state borders, it was marked only by simple wooden guidelines, which were often dug up on the initiative of the Poles, and because of this, conflicts arose several times. Our border guards have also suffered from this.
