Tips

  • The village is first documented in 1345, the church will have been around this time already. The fieldstone construction with buttresses from brick dates probably from the end of the 13th century. The four yokes and the polygonal Ostschluss have a different quality of construction. While the three western yokes show a rather poor quality, the choir is much cleaner. This may point to an earlier date of creation of the choir, but also to a later renewal or refurbishment, in which the two-lane neo-gothic windows and the priest's gate were installed on the choir south side. The buttresses also show different masonry.
On the western gable sits a truss tower with shingled eight-sided pointed helmet, which probably came in the 18th century on the church. By contrast, the two bells in the tower are very old, dating back to 1399 and 1474.
In the course of the neo-Gothic transformation, the church received a western entrance porch with a beautiful stepped gable. Striking are also the chimneys of church heating.
The interior is covered with a flat wooden ceiling. During the transformation in the 1970s, the neo-Gothic altarpiece was moved to the north wall and a simple altar table was set up in the choir. Pulpit and stalls as well as the baptismal font from 1892 are still preserved. The organ was built in 1833 by Friedrich Friese (Friese I). But it did not come until 1874 from Wustrow in the church to Warsow. It was built here by Johann Heinrich Runge (1811-1885). After a restoration in the year 1999 by the company Schmidt from Rostock it resounds today in full sound.
The cemetery is surrounded by a fieldstone drywall. The large cemetery is located on the outskirts (Schweriner Str. 37), strong lime trees line the paths here.

  • The church in Warsow is a Gothic building and the oldest church in the Stralendorf district, probably built in the 12th or 13th century. The interior is walled with bricks. Originally the ceiling was closed with vaults. Its chancel is constructed from an octagon and its tower is drawn into the single-nave space in such a way that it appears to be growing out of the roof. Its retaining walls are at the bottom of the church and divide the front part of the nave into 3 parts. The tower supports an octagonal pyramid covered with slate.Source: kirche-mv.de/emmaus-kirchengemeinde-schwerin-land/kirchen/kirche-warsow
