From the north bank of the Kirchsee there is a broad view of the Alpine panorama over the crescent-shaped lake.

The Kirchsee has been an EU bathing water since 2008. There are two bathing areas with large jetties on the north bank. Toilets are available as well as parking spaces which are chargeable in the season. Then a kiosk is also open and the water watch base is mostly occupied. Another bathing area on the south bank can only be reached on foot from Reutberg Monastery. Outside the designated bathing areas, the bank may not be entered. Sailing boats and windsurfing as well as bathing, cleaning or watering animals of all kinds are also prohibited during the bathing season.

The water quality of the Kirchsee is very good (quality class I).

The Kirchsee is fed by relatively warm bog water that flows into it in several small streams. The brook leaving the lake is called Kirchseebach. This first flows in the channel of the Teufelsgraben towards Pelletsmühl and Hackensee, where it then seeps away.

Summer and winter worth a visit. The usual round: park at Reutberg Monastery, take a leisurely walk to the lake and back and then stop off in the Klosterbiergarten (or restaurant). The way is for everyone, only the bog at the end is a little muddier too.
