The Kempische stable along the Lieremanweg is an icon of Landschap De Liereman. A beautiful example of heritage you would think. But in fact the Kempische stable was only built in the 1990s. The inspiration and the material were obtained from a really old building in Lichtaart, which stood at a farm and would disappear there. It was given a second life in Landschap De Liereman. This barn, as it was built in our regions for centuries, has a sturdy oak structure. The walls are made of woven branches that were covered with a mixture of clay, loam, lime, straw and cow urine. The roof consists of reed and bulrush. There is an opening on the side in which an owl can build a nest.
