Hiking

A rose garden, designed by the Nierstein landscape architect August Waltenberg, originated from a rose exhibition held to celebrate the millennium of the Rhineland in 1925. It was also the first rose exhibition organized by the Association of German Rose Lovers.[1] This garden deviates from the concept of an English garden and covers an area of 9,500 square meters and contains approximately 7,500 roses. During the Mainz Wine Market, an artists' market is held here, adjacent to the area for the sparkling wine festival. A small antiquarian book market completes the ensemble.
