From a rose show on the occasion of the millennium celebrations in the Rhineland, a rose garden was created in 1925 according to plans by the Nierstein garden architect August Waltenberg. At the same time it was the 1st rose show of the Association of German Rose Friends.[1] This falls outside the concept of the English garden and contains around 7,500 roses on an area of 9,500 square meters. During the Mainz Wine Market, an artists' market takes place here, which is adjoined by the place for the champagne festival. The ensemble is supplemented by a small antiquarian book market.
