In the autumn/winter of 1990/91, the training of selected members of the emerging Moris Brigade, which played an important role in the Slovenian War of Independence, began at this place. During the war, Medvedjak was also the military location of the first recruits of the Slovenian army.

The events are commemorated by a commemorative plaque, and the associated buildings are unfortunately in poor condition.
