The building built in 1716 by Erdinger's master bricklayer Anton Kogler, in contrast to its usual church building scheme, has a heavily indented choir, so that no choir windows are visible from the nave and an indirect light guide to the choir altar is created. This method was masterfully used by the Asam brothers. The altar leaf in Itzling represents the patron saint of St. Vitus in the late baroque altarpiece.
