The station building of Volos was designed by Evaristo De Chirico, chief engineer of the Thessalian Railways and father of Giorgio de Chirico. It was completed in 1884 for the opening of the route to Larisa. The building has remained unchanged since 1884 and is one of the few buildings that survived the 1955 earthquake that destroyed a large part of Volos' historical center. Its external appearance is characterized by rich wood decor, especially in the eaves area, which is reminiscent of a Swiss house.
