The Devil's Carega is an imposing rock spire that stands alone in the midst of the dense forests of the lush Rameston Valley, also known as the Anguane Valley.

According to legend, given its profile, which features a step at three-quarters of its height, it was once a gigantic chair used by the devil to dominate the entire valley, surrounded by a tribe of witches: hence the toponym 'carega,' meaning chair in the Venetian dialect. Also known in ancient times as the 'Prìa longa' (long stone), the 'Sojo di Rameston', or the 'Ramm Stoan' (stone of the crows, in Cimbrian).

To reach the summit, take a steep path that runs alongside the rock on the right; climb a beautiful staircase made of logs; Finally, for those who are up for it and who are extremely careful, you can climb the short vertical rock face, aided by a fixed rope*: from the (very exposed!) summit, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the valley below, completely covered in trees. You can also circumnavigate the enormous boulder before the ladder, again aided by safety ropes, reaching the exposed front terrace (which is essentially the seat of the chair, under the backrest).

The front wall is used as a climbing gym with numerous routes.

I advise against climbing for non-experts as a simple mistake can lead to injury

        *UPDATE*
The rope to climb to the summit has been replaced by a ladder made of rope and logs, but the ascent (and above all the descent!) must still be undertaken only if you are safe and very carefully.
