Heidekamper Heckkate

This is where the "Heidekamper Heckkaten" once stood. The Kate standing here is also old, but she is probably too young to be the original from the 18th century. The Plön dukes had made the former Reinfeld monastery with its surrounding villages their own and, at the beginning of the 17th century, converted it into the large "Reinfeld zoo" in order to be able to devote themselves to their passion for hunting at any time. To this end, impenetrable hedges were laid out to delimit the enclosure. Towards the end of the 18th century, Reinfeld was surrounded on all sides by a 20 km long live fence. Cottages were set up on all passageways, and the cottager had to make sure that the "rear", i.e. the gate, was always closed. Therefore, there are many field names around Reinfeld that read on Heckkaten.
