There were always disputes on the border between the principalities of Fulda and Würzburg. That was the case in Westheim and especially at the Westheimer Mühle. While Westheim itself, like Hammelburg, was (predominantly) Fulda, Trimburg (seat of a Würzburg bailiff) and Langendorf were Würzburgish. Since Langendorf did not have its own mill, contacts to Westheimer Mühle were important and were well looked after; the Westheimer mill was regarded as one's own.
An event in 1505 brought the parties fighting on and around the border so angry that the situation even cost people their lives and threatened to escalate even further.
After all, these events gave rise to negotiations, which ultimately led to contractual regulations on the border situation in 1508.
