Translation of the "Western Union" sign posted here:
The schooner Western Union was built between 1938 and 1939 and is one of the oldest surviving wooden working sailboats in the United States, and the oldest surviving tall ship built in the Florida Keys. This ship was used to lay and maintain telegraph cables between Key West, Cuba and the nations of the Caribbean Islands. This ship is the flagship of Key West and was named Florida State Flagship in 2012. In 1984 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (the official list of places of cultural interest in the United States).
